Katherine and David's wedding - Vancouver BC

One of Ahrash's oldest friends, Katherine, got married right at the end of May to David, someone she has known since college. Megan and Ahrash headed up to Vancouver for the event and left Dahrius and Ranier in the able hands of Nana and Papi, who came from Tucson to be with the grandkids. The whole weekend was lovely, despite the anxieties of leaving the kids. The weather in Vancouver was sunny and warm. Apparently a spate of particularly foggy and cool weather settled in for the weekend in Berkeley, so the Arizona-natives felt that they had stepped back into winter for a few days. Good things the grandkids were there to keep things cheery!

Here is Megan looking lovely in the church for the ceremony.

David and Katherine exchanging vows. Katherine's father is the reverend for the church and is the one marrying them here.

Ahrash got to help out by joining the crowd of "official" signed witnesses to their marriage certificate.

And it's official!

Happily.

Back in the bright sunshine and warmth. Quite lucky for May in Vancouver!

Lots of meeting and greeting to do.

We then headed to dinner at a Chinese restaurant downtown. It was a ten course meal, or more... I forget. But the food was incredible, and we ate and ate for three hours. Megan and I sat at a table with David and Katherine along with two other families with kids. The kids were pretty amazing... managing to last the whole meal without any meaningful meltdowns. We missed Dahrius and Ranier, but it was also nice to not be consumed by occupying their attentions all the time.

Nice speeches all around. Some of Katherine's friends from college gave one of the most memorable toasts we have ever heard. I'm sorry that I didn't catch the whole thing on video.

The happy couple, with many plans already laid for the near future! Congratulations Katherine and David!

Pacific Palisades

We visited Yalda, Jim, Chloe, and Walker at their home in Pacific Palisades over Memorial Day weekend. Right after we arrived, we went to see Walker play baseball... Dahrius reported later that this was one of the highlights of the trip.

Walker taking a crack at the ball...

Ranier cheering everyone (especially himself) on.

We spent much of the weekend playing with balls on the driveway. The pint-sized basketball hoop was a hit.

And of course there is the ever popular playroom, which was also our bedroom, but we managed to avoid most booking conflicts.

The farmer's market overflowed with strawberries, so soon we did too.

We created a new game using a beach ball, called everyone versus Ahrash. Everyone won.

Inverness and home

Catching up a bit... we checked on the house in Inverness, which was basically a giant construction zone. Better to escape to the beach with a nice hike. Here Ranier is demonstrating his rock-throwing skills.
Debating the likelihood that one of us can throw a rock to the other side of Tomales Bay.
Ranier enjoys escaping his own shoes every now and then.

Both boys love to help cook. Sometimes we put on protective aprons.

Re: glasses and graduation

Ranier really likes these play glasses...also, Dahrius just "graduated" from preschool. Here he is with his 3 teachers: Nancy (hidden), Chi Chun, and Gabi.
the kids entertained the parents with some singing in English and Chinese.

Uncle Joshie sent a very cool present--a huge box!!!!!! inside was a Plasma Car, but before assembled--here' what they preferred.

Me and my baby...

A lovely sunset here...
