We spent Memorial Day weekend down in Ventura visiting cousins Chloe and Walker and the rest of the family (Yalda and Jim).
The weather was cool, but we had a good time. Dahrius' favorite thing was having a sleepover with Walker.
This is before the trip in Berkeley at our botanical garden trip. Ranier likes to ride way up high on daddy. We also had a great visit by Joanna (Jojo) last week and Dahrius took full advantage--sharing strawberries for breakfast and having Jojo help with bath and stories at night. If only she and Uncle Joshie just lived next door!
Ranier has his little cuddly, a little star (la estrellita), that he automatically snuggles with when he's tired (or not). It helps sooth him when he's having trouble falling asleep.
We've had some unusually warm weather here in Berkeley in the last week. It's been nice, and here are the boys snuggling together in their summer PJ's.
Last weekend we went to the Botanical gardens for a lovely hike and snack in the grass.
In Spanish: agua (for water...also anything he can point to that he wants to eat/drink) gato
In English: mama dada apple ball quack-quack woof-woof no-no diaper (da-pu) uh-oh all done (ah-du) da-DAAH (for Dahrius) bye-bye hi vroom (voooo, he says, while holding a toy car or plane and zooming it across the air)
It's been pretty exciting to see Ranier finally moving around of his own accord. He started crawling a few "steps" about a week after his 1st bday. Dahrius first witnessed it in the morning, and then the grown-ups saw him do it later that day. We have many silly videos of Maman and Mommy trying to capture his crawling in the first few days. Finally, we just relaxed and got a video a week or two later.
It's still pretty crazy to see him motoring all over the house. We DEFINITELY need to do some childproofing! He's into everything, esp. hazards.
Not to be left out, Dahrius demonstrated some impressive 4-yr old moves with jumping in the yard.
In late April, Megan and the boys met up with Brooke and her son, Liam (nearly 5) and drove to Heidi's baby shower. We had a great time and enjoyed our "UCSC reunion", with lots of kids now!! Here's Liz with 10-week old Aoiffe, Tanya (the only childless one), Brooke with Liam below, Heidi (due with her 1st in July), me and Ranier, Dahrius (hiding), Sabrina and her son, Sean. We went to little Sam's bday party (friend from Dahrius' school) at the little farm. The kids got some fun farm hats to wear. Here's Dahrius chasing Kush. Farmer D. We ran into an old friend, Rafa and his little sister (left), and got a shot of Dahrius and Kush, as well. We had a fun visit by former colleague of Ahrash's, Amanda, and she and Dahrius hit it off. He made himself right at home playing in her bed. King of the rock!
